Laced Woodpecker
(Picus vittatus) 花腹绿啄木鸟
Size: 30 cm

Description:
Note green wings with streaks on lower under-parts and wing edges; male has red crown.

Voice:
A shrill, explosive kweeck.

Habits:
It occurs in primary as well as secondary forest, from lowlands to lower mountain altitudes, and scrub. On the Malay Peninsula, mainly found in coastal forests, coconut groves and mangroves. Its move low and often hops on the ground to feed on ants and other invertebrates.
Distribution:
Common breeding resident throughout Singapore
