There is no occassion better than Diwali for a lovely harmony and warm greetings. Therefore TN'inans in Delhi and NCR planning to meet on 25th. All TN friends are welcome. Location will be informed shortly. Now to the bird "Flamingo

Flamingos or flamingoes are gregarious wading birds in the genus Phoenicopterus and family Phoenicopteridae. They are found in both the Western Hemisphere and Eastern Hemisphere, but are more numerous in the former. There are four species in the Americas while two exist in the Old World. Two species, the Andean and the James's Flamingo, are often placed in the genus Phoenicoparrus instead of Phoenicopterus.

The prehistory of the Phoenicopteriformes is far better researched than their systematic affinities (see below). An extinct family of peculiar "swimming flamingos", the Palaelodidae, was initially believed to be the ancestors of the Phoenicopteridae. This is now rejected, as the fossil genus Elornis, apparently a true albeit primitive flamingo, is known from the Late Eocene, before any palaelodid flamingoes have been recorded. A considerable number of little-known birds from the Late Cretaceous onwards are sometimes considered to be flamingo ancestors.

Hello Ganesh,
I remember this pond with Flamingoes but there weren't as many there when we saw it. I doubt your meeting will be this crowded but I hope you'll have a great time together!!
A beautiful capture, well composed and in lovely colours.

Hi Ganesh,

I've seen large groups of flamingoes but never anything like this. How beautiful they are and what a lovely scene. You did well to capture so many of them. Colors, clarity and composition are all superb. How I wish I could join you on the 25th :-(

Hi Ganesh, superb composition with a lot of flamingoes, fantastic colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Narayanan,
The gang's all there, without a doubt :)
Looks like several hundred anyway..Nice group shot!

Hello Ganesh!
I never see such a large group of Flamingo down in a park now I know you can see them in Singapore, will drop by on my next stop there!
good pov with nice lighting and details

Nice capture of the birds. Unfortunately when I visited Singapore in the year 2001, due to some security reason I was not allowed to visit many such nice locations.
Also thanks for the Get-to gather planning. I am with you.

Hello Ganesh. Awesome flamingos... so many and yet so peaceful in this reunion. Awesome!!!
