Little Spiderhunter
Size: 16 cm

Distinguished from other spiderhunters by its small size, pale throat and bright yellow underparts.

A penetrating chiit in flight.

The most successful member of its genus. Found in primary forest, secondary growth and nearby cultivation. Occurs mainly in the lowlands, but also inhabits lower mountain elevations. Although fairly numerous, this bird is secretive and skulking, so is not easy to observe. It is most often seen briefly as it darts across the trail, calling loudly. It flies quickly from flower to flower, feeding on nectar and small invertebrates.

Uncommon resident breeder in the forested areas of Singapore.
