Hello,

Pied Paddy Skimmer Female, Female:Differs significantly from the male in body markings and colouration. The face is olivaceous yellow.
Eyes: Pale brown above, which fade to pale olivaceous towards the sides and below.
Thorax: Greenish yellow with a bright yellow mid dorsal stripe. This stripe is broadly bordered with blackish brown throughout.
Legs: The outer surface of legs is yellow and the inner surface is black. Wings: Base of the wings bright amber yellow. Front edge of the wing is blackish brown, broadening into a very large blackish brown spot. This spot extend to the rear edge of the wing. In hind wings this spot is irregular or sickle shaped. Tips of all wings are broadly blackish brown.
Wing spot: Dull brown.

The pied colors and the habitat give them the name pied paddy skimmer. It is the males which have the black colored wings as above, while the females have golden yellow wings with dark spots/tips. These paddy skimmers are often found around ponds, fields, and all kind of pools of water. Their flight is also conspicuous,
Though seen throughout the year, studies show that they are most abundant during the summer monsoon – when the water supply is plentiful – and increases the survival rates of the larvae.

I am sure Peter made a mistake .... isn't it ? He he he we have fun here... the image of this dragonfly seems perfectly fine to me ..well except the issue of the white balance seems unresolved! Fine clarity brilliant light and simplicity Pauly! A winner!
