[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Julia Heliconian (Dryas iulia). Thanks to Howard (Marhowie) and Peter (Batu) for helping me identify this species.

The species is distributed through southern North America to Brazil.
It was taken at the Butterfly Park in Phuket, where all the other species on display can be found in SE Asia.
It was a very active species, constantly fluttering and I only managed two shots with the wings nearly still.

thanks in advance.

Hi Chris,
as beautiful buttefly with amazing colours.
Very good details, nice POV and composition.
Great work, mf.

Hi Chris,

Well done on the composition and capture.

If one were to be picky, the right wing quarter is out of focus, however, the most important is tack sharp, the eyes. The whitebalance needs adjusted as the background has a magenta hue. I don't know if it works with a p.s. but, on my cam, I always keep my whitebalance set to shade, yep, even in full sunlight, it has a warming effect.

It's a beauty, beautiful vibrant colors.

Nice shot Chris,
Looks like the Julia Butterfly (Dryas iulia).
Not 100% though. Great light, lovely BG, and composed well..Good sharpness, especially the head.
Well done.

Hallo Chris,
very brilliant colours and pretty good sharpness.
You are absolutely right! This is no native south east Asian species. It is
- Dryas iulia -
(Nymphalidae, Heliconiinae) which occurs in tropical America.

Hi Chris,
thanks for liking my caterpillar shot.
This one is really a catch. Excellent bright and rich colours, of the butterfly as well as the flower.
It stand out very well against the green leaves as background. Well presented in diagonal composition.
