[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Around 7 AM this morning, I was looking for butterfly and insect in the vicinity of my place in Nakon Nayok. This bright yellow moth was lapping for minerals or water in the middle of the side road. This was my first time to see this moth. I took several picture with excitement. I have to apologize for this unsightly picture. The moth is OK but you also see two species of flies here. If you look closely you also see a dead frog that attracted these flies.

About Geometridae from Wikipedia

Adults
Many Geometrids have slender abdomens and broad wings which are usually held flat with the hindwings visible. As such they appear rather butterfly-like but in most respects they are typical moths: the majority fly at night, they possess a frenulum to link the wings and the antennae of the males are often feathered. They tend to blend in to the background, often with intricate, wavy patterns on their wings. In some species, females have reduced wings (e.g. winter moth and fall cankerworm).

Most are of moderate size, about 3 cm across but a range of sizes occur. They have distinctive paired tympanal organs at the base of the abdomen (lacking in flightless females).

Caterpillars
The name Geometer (earth-measurer) refers to the means of locomotion of the larvae or caterpillars, which lack most of the prolegs of other Lepidopteran caterpillars. Equipped with appendages at both ends of the body, a caterpillar will clasp with its front legs and draw up the hind end, then clasp with the hind end (prolegs) and reach out for a new front attachment - creating the impression that it is measuring its journey. The caterpillars are accordingly called loopers, spanworms, or inchworms. They tend to be green, grey, or brownish and hide from predators by fading into the background or resembling twigs. Some have humps or filaments (see Filament-bearer image). They are seldom hairy or gregarious. Typically they eat leaves. However, some eat lichen, flowers or pollen. Some, such as the Eupithecia, are even carnivorous.

A lovely moth , never seen this before and this is what makes trecknature the place to check in daily coz here we not only see different insects but the presentation and composition which is great and perfect as in this pic.

This is a really beautiful moth with amazing colour and wing shape! Excellent details, colours and exposure.

A rather busy "side road", JC :-)!
However, notwithstanding the presence of other creatures (deal or alive) within the frame, the rich colours of the moth rivet the attention entirely on the main subject.
In fact, this moth is as atttractive as any butterfly and you have done a great job of capturing the colours and patterns on its wings and abdomen.

What a great specimen you managed to photograph. Amazing moth and superb its image. Colour and detail reproduction is perfect as well as the reflection of the ground. Very impressive combination. I also like flash light. It is very suitable. Only it seems to me there is a lot of free space on the right of moth. My bets regards and TFS.

I knew there were moths with fantastic colors, but this one is really superb! What a beauty!
Magnificent sharpness and colors.
Even if there is a dead frog you almost do not notice it. The moth is super-eye-catching.
