Today my post is a little different - no macro - no insects.

I would like to tell you about an amazing day I had 3 days after my 40th birthday this year.
We spent our holidays in the North of Thailand - and there we had the chance to be close to 5 tigers.

2 "Babytigers" - as they told us - but they were already 9 months old and very big.
And 3 tigers at the age of 4 - 5 years.
Here you see a beautiful 5 year old tiger-lady.

We were together with them almost for 1 hour, we had the chance to fondle them, to have eye-contact, it was the most amazing hour with animals we ever had.

After this experience our legs suddenly turned to jelly, belief me! During the time with the tigers it was high voltage ... after that the energy abruptly dropped away, pppfffff ....

I already had shots of us both together with the tigers at TL. If you are interested please have a look
here and here and here.

Thanks for your interest and your kind words if you like my post today ;-)

Enjoy the weekend

Hello Sabine,
Fantastic portrait of this tiger. The details are amazing and the colours very natural and pure. Great composition.
We had the same experience with cheetahs in Namibia. A moment we will never forget.

Hi Sabine

What a wonderful shot of her. I always think that portrait shots on animals work best when their head is against their body as you have it here. It seems to add something to the shot.

great shot and TFS

wow, amazing tiger, TFS Ori

Hello Sabine,
A fine close portrait of a half-grown Tiger.
I think I would be pretty nervous to touch one of these, even if it were tame.
So you did well to take such a nice sharp close shot of its face.
I hope that in the future there will still be tigers in the wild!
Thanks and have a good weekend,

Hallo Sabine,

An handsome animal in impressive expression. Imponente portrait with perfect focus and exciting light. Best compliments MF and TFS.

hallo Sabine

Dear Sabine,
This photo is an expression of your love for Nature.

The way you filled the frame with the animal's face is trumped by the details of the tiger's beautiful eye.

The colours are natural - the whole image perfect.

I am aware of your excitement - I "cuddled" once a baby lion (in the Lion Park on the outskirts of Johannesburg), which actually smelled strongly of antiseptics. The next visitor had her arm ripped open - maybe the lion did not like her loud voice...

I applaud your work and add it to my favorites.

Have a good - not too cold week,
Warm regards

Hi Sabine,
What a wonderful and intimate portrait of this fine looking tiger. The details are most wonderful and the shallow DOF worked perfectly and gave great focus on the eye. I love the white clean background and the the clatchlight in the eye.

Hi Sabine,
I love this amazing close-up of this gorgeous tiger.
It is even more amazing when I read your note and realize that you are sharing a same space with her.
Absolutely beautiful.
All the details are so sharp. (My hands would have been shaking!)
I love the colors in her eyes.
TFS. : )

Hello Sabine,

I don't often see macro shot of a tiger..!
This looks like a peaceful animal with a bit sad eyes, the details in the face are really pin sharp and reproduced with great natural colours...
Tight framing works well here, with emphasis on the eyes!
