I found this piar on the grass near my place. There was light shower during the night. May be both of this common four ring found it romantic.

Family: Nymphalidae
SubFamily: Satyrinae
Ypthima huebneri (Common Four Ring)

The Common 4-Ring is much smaller in size when compared with the Common 3-Ring and Common 5-Ring but is often found in the same localities. The caterpillar of this species is believed to feed on grasses.

It is a weak flyer and keeps close to the ground most of the time, except when feeding on flowering creepers. The species, like its other cousins are regarded as drab and "unattractive" butterflies and often ignored by most observers.

Hallo Jitti, a pretty good view of this Ypthima couple with excellent details seen on the wings, the head and the legs. I am particularly interested in Satyrinae, so I am happy to see the picture here. As you say, Satyrines are often ignored. In Ypthima, the upperside wing pattern is less attractive than that of the underside which you show here.

Hi JC!
Beautiful image of these mating butterflies!
I like your linear presentation here as against the popular diagonal. The reason is obvious: the butterflies are framed within the frame by those green stalks on either side of them. The BG too is not just a blurred entity here but exudes a sort of vibrant atmosphere of its own without diverting attention from the main subject.
Great shot, my friend!
Ram
