Family: Lycaenidae (Gossamer Winged Butterflies) (Thai: วงศ์ผีเสื้อมรกต)
Subfamily: Lycaeninae
Genus: Arhopala
Species: Arhopala pseudocentaurus

May be: Arhopala pseudocentaurus nakula.
Common name: Centaur Oakblue (Thai: ผีเสื้อฟ้าไม้ก่อมดเลี้ยง) (Chinese: 銀鏈嬈灰蝶)
Wingspan: about 5.6–5.8cm

This is one of the largest species of the genus Arhopala. Many of the species are difficult to identify in the field and careful entomological study is required to accurately separate the species. The Centaur Oakblue can be differentiated from the other Arhopala species by the slivery green lines edging the markings in the cell on the underside of the forewing.
The male is purple-blue with a very narrow black border on the forewing. The paler and deeper purple female has broad dark borders.

The species has a symbiotic relationship with ants during its larval stage. The green caterpillar has a brown saddle mark. The caterpillar is attended by ants, in particular, the Red Ant (Fire Ant/Green Tree Ant/ Weaver Ant); family Oecophylla (build nest with leaves). The species in Thailand is Oecophylla smaragdina. The caterpillar exudes a honey which is 'milked' by the ants in return for protection. No predator would normally risk tackling these aggressive biting ants to get at the caterpillar.

Hello Jitti,
Pretty sharp capture of this brown butterfly against the beackground of beautiful leaves. Lovely colours, just a pity about the light in the bottom right corner. Perhaps you could have cropped it more?
TFS, Ulla

Hi Jitti,
Sorry I can't say more than thisis a nymphalid b'fly but the species is a mystery to me.
This is sharp and well presented but i might have cropped more on the right side.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Hello Jitti,
a beautiful picture of this Lycaenide with right focus and superb sharpness. Although the colour pattern is clearly visible it is not easy to identify the species. It belongs to the
- genus Arhopala
which includes many very similar species. It's really a huge genus. In Thailand more than 85 different Arhopala species exist. In my opinion it is
-- Arhopala pseudocentaurus
-- family: Lycaenidae
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Jitti.
I like your next butterfly shot very much. Very nice specimen was captured by you. Its pose, excellent sharpness, rich and natural colours are simply amazing. The leaves, their incline angle is very impressive as well as the neutrally coloured BG. May by only blurred spot at the right bottom corner distracts attention a bit. I also like the illumination, exposure and contrast of image and its excellent sharpness. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Good image, Jitti.
Butterfly is really sharp.
Nice tones in the wings; well displayed.

Hi, Jitti.
This is very good macro. I would crop also from right side a bit, but all the other things are positive. Tack sharp, with very good exposure and colors. Good pose and POV.

Buenos detalles de esta mariposa gracias al apropiado foco y profundidad, además de la correcta iluminación JC.
El encuadre es algo grande y la agudeza ligeramente soft... creo que la opción del Workshop de Alex es muy interesante.
Gracias y saludos... Ricardo

Good details of this butterfly due to the appropriate focus and depth, besides the correct illumination JC.
The framing is something big and the sharpness lightly soft... I believe that the option of Alex's Workshop is very interesting.
Thank you and greetings... Ricardo

Hi Jitti,
Great details and excellent pov. Colours and composition are fine too. I hope some expert can give the right id. for this bf.
TFS, José M.

Hi, Jitti:
It's a bit "worn," but Peter (Batu) is correct - it's Arhopala pseudocentaurus, the Centaur Oakblue. The silvery green lines in the underside forewing cell against a dark brown background separate this species from the other Arhopala species. The upperside of the wings is absolutely stunning, particularly in the deep purple-blue males. A nice shot, but I agree that cropping out the blurred leaf would be an improvement.
Regards, Nigel.

Hello Jitti

Very sharp detail and excellent well saturated colours.Good POV and DOF.I agree with a couple of the others ,I would have eliminated the lower right corner to get rid of the blur. The rest of the shot is beautiful.TFS

Excellent profile view of the Gossamar-winged, JC. The image is very sharp with a good DOF and the light has been used to great advantage in this well-balanced shot.
TFS and take care.
