[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A Vermillion Flycatcher (Pyrocephalus rubinus) which we found in several places during our visit to lowland Belize where it frequented open woodlands, disturbed areas and even gardens around Crooked Tree village.
It has a patchy distribution from south-western USA through most of Mexico and coastal Belize and Honduras, but is absent from Costa Rica and Panama. It also has a patchy distributed through the more open vegetation communities of South America and is also found on the Galapagos Islands.
Not the greatest shot I’ve posted (heavily cropped from the original), but it is a spectacularly coloured bird.

Hello Chris,
I saw this little fellow in Venezuela, but was never able to get close. You did a better job.
As you said the crop is rather heavy. I wonder if it would not be better to make a smaller crop and show some of the sign it sits on. The focus is then no so much on the bird but on the whole picture
Anyway, just a thought.

Cheers, Jacob

Hallo Chris
What a dainty and attractive little bird. I can see that you have cropped it quite a lot ( and as you also have mentioned in your notes) but it is never the less still a attraction to the eye. There are some red birds in our garden to and I have trying my best to photograph them but they are so quick and cannot sit still for one moment, because of this I have also not been able to identify them. I like the white outlines on this Vermillion Flycatcher’s wings as well as the black stripe from the beak across the eye up to its head. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Chris,
What a vivid and intense red!
I like very much the pose got in which we can enjoy the plumage and different tones on the wings.
The contrast against the nicely blurred green background works great!
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM

Wow! What a pretty bird!
The colours are very rich and perfectly saturated.
This is a cracking photo even though it has been heavily cropped!
Red is the opposite of green so it's no wonder this bird stands out like a sore thumb against the BG!
Excellent focusing and DOF.
Well done Chris!
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Chris. Nice photo of this colorful little bird. I konw how hard is to get close to this kind of birds. I have some here too, but not as good as this one.
