Caye Caulker, a small island off the coast of Belize, is a diving and snorkeling paradise set amid the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemishphere..Many different kind of species of wildlife call this island there home.
After watching a group of pelicans catching there lunch, I spotted these two Belizean Pelicans (Brown Pelicans)..
A pelican is any of several very large water birds with a distinctive pouch under the beak belonging to the bird family Pelecanidae.
Like other birds in that group, pelicans have all four toes webbed (they are totipalmate). From the fossil record, it is known that pelicans have been around for over 40 million years. Pelicans are gregarious and nest colonially, the male bringing the material, the female heaping it up to form a simple structure. Pairs are monogamous for a single season but the pair bond extends only to the nesting area; away from the nest mates are independent. |

Very nice picture! I love the pose and the wind from sea! Great shot.
Sorry, but points tomorow :-(

This is a nice picture but the crop is too tight in the top and the back of the front bird is overexposed.
Nice shot but the sea should be flat, and the back of theyr heads is overexposed.
TFS.
