PALE BILLED WOODPECKER
Campephilus Quatemalensis
i think FIRST time on TN
The Pale Billed Woodpecker is 37cm. long and weighs 255gr.
It resembles the LINEATED WOODPECKER but is larger and mor robust.
The adult is mainly black above with a pale bill bushy crest and white line down the choulders which almost mect in a V on its back.
The throut is black and the rest of the underparts are white heavily barred with black.
The male has a red head and crest The female is similar but the crest and throet are black.
The female can be distinguished from LINEATED WOODPECKER by the absence of a white facial stripe

Hello Laurens,
The body shape of this bird reminds me a lot of our Pileated Woodpecker. Perfectly exposed with excellent detail and beautiful natural colors. I like the diagonal composition. Very informative notes!! A beautiful bird indeed!!!

Hallo Lou,
Hier ben ik echt jaloers op. Wat een schoonheid, een Koningsspecht in vol ornaat. Prachtig gefotografeerd in een erg mooie compositie. In zo'n geval is de centrale positie van de specht juist erg goed.
Felicitaties omdat je eerste op TN bent met deze specht. Ik hoop dat je er nog meer hebt.
