|Discovering Costa Rica:|
when a big wild bird is walking towards you to find out what you are doing here, and not the other way round, i.e. you are on the lookout for a bird, then you are in Costa Rica ! This female Great Curassow (Crax rubra; El Hocofaisán; Hokkohenne;)did exactly that, the telelens becoming quite useless.
The Great Curassow bears no relation to Turkeys or old-world Pheasants but belongs together with Guans and Chacalacas to the neotropical family of Cracidae.
The picture was taken near the entrance to Parque nacional Piedras Blancas near Golfito
