Trying my hand on bird shots:
Somebody told me: "The most difficult kinds of bird shots are those in a tropical rainforest". I can't judge that for lack of experience. But this picture of a Broad-billed Motmot (Electron platyrhynchum; El momoto picoancho; Breitschnabel-Motmot. Momotidae) in the La Selva Rainforest might serve as a demonstration: the bird is small, well camouflaged, there is little light. A lot of leaves make focussing and flashing a problem, the lens has to be protected from rain. And the bugger doesn't do anything, it remains sitting quiet.
I used f/4 1/800 sec, 6400 ISO, 490 mm. I didn't do any white correction in the histogram, therefore I am left with the overexposed sunbeams.
In PS I sharpened, cropped, blurred the leaves, enhanced contrast and even saturation a little, made the bird brighter and the background darker.
Now I appreciate the work on TN of many of you even more !

What a beautiful bird! in a very nice picture. I like it.
Thank you for sharing it.
Congratulation and saludos.

👋 Hello Dietrich,
This is pure natural habitat photograph which I always prefer. It's always a tough work to capture bird 🐦 in its natural habitat, keeping everything well ☺. Very well captured and good colors and sharpness. Those bright 🔆 spots in the background, bit distracting and you could easily get rid of them using EDIT tools ☺, otherwise good work.

Till today, I haven't taken a single bird picture using Tripod ☺ ; hand STILL OK ☺
Thanks for sharing your work with us 😊
Regards,
Srikumar
