Species:H. charithonia

Heliconius charithonia, the zebra longwing or zebra heliconian, is a species of butterfly belonging to the subfamily Heliconiinae of the Nymphalidae. The boldly striped black and white wing pattern is aposematic, warning off predators.
The species is distributed across South and Central America and as far north as southern Texas and peninsular Florida; there are migrations north into other American states in the warmer months.
Zebra longwing adults roost communally at night in groups of up to 60 adults for safety from predators. The adult butterflies are unusual in feeding on pollen as well as on nectar; the pollen enables them to synthesize cyanogenic glycosides that make their bodies toxic to potential predators. Caterpillars feed on various species of Passionflower, evading the plants' defensive trichomes by biting them off or laying silk mats over them.
H. charithonia is found in South America, Central America, the West Indies, Mexico,Cuba, south Texas and peninsular Florida. Adults sometimes migrate north to New Mexico, South Carolina, and Nebraska during the warmer months. It was declared the official butterfly for the state of Florida in the United States in 1996.The species frequents tropical hammocks, moist forests, edges, or fields.

Hello Luciano,
Very attractive color and stripes of this Zebra Butterfly. Well captured from difficult corner. Right exposure, to me with good sharpness.
Thanks for sharing,

Hello Luciano
I love the contrast of this Heliconius charithonia and the blooming Bougainvillea. Nicely composed including fine details, DOF and lighting. The colour of the butterfly are really striking. Have a nice evening.

Another good capture of this exotic species from your trip last year, Luciano. It's a trying perspective but you have managed it well. I like the symphony of strong colours in this composition.

Hello Luciano,
Very nice photo of this butterfly in beautiful contrasting colours and good sharpness.

Hello Luciano,
Brilliant capture. Excellent clarity, focus and sharp details. The colors are nice and natural.
Thanks for sharing this lovely and interesting specie.

Ciao Luciano,
great shot of that black and white butterfly. But the flowers add a lot of color to your picture. You've been four times in Cuba. That means that you like it very much. My wife and me have been impressed also. It was the first time we have been there. But on our to-do-list are so many different journeys that I don't think to visit Cuba again.
Kind regards

Hello Luciano

Beautiful environmental photo of this butterfly, fine POV,
excellent focus, sharpness, details, and contrast, TFS
