Turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) sitting on a tree near a piece of carrion on the ground. In Cuba you see turkey vultures everywhere in the countryside in large numbers. It is a large bird with a wingspan up to 180cm.

Hello Roland,
A great shot of this Turkey Vulture sitting patiently on it's perch. Excellent detail and well saturated yet natural colors. Nicely composed and just the right amount of exposure. These guys have such a unique looking face. Super shot!!

an impressing encounter to meet such a mighty vulture seated on a tree in nature.
A little bit of selective resharpening of the bird's details after downsize to web might even further increase the impact of the attractive presentation.
