|FIRST TIME ON TN|
Surely my biggest photographic satisfaction of this last trip. A very lucky and elusive encounter, but I was very ready and the quality is also excellent. The most beautiful species I could see during my hike in the Dominican rainforest, in the Los Haitises National Park.
Lycorea halia cleobaea, the tropical milkweed butterfly, is a subspecies of Lycorea halia, also called the tropical milkweed butterfly, a nymphalid butterfly in the Danainae subfamily. It is found from the Antilles, Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. Its habitat is tropical rainforest.

I can see why you are so excited, the butterfly is absolutely gorgeous. I could tell by the thumbnail image that this was going to be a spectacular shot. The contrasting colors and intricate markings of its wings are a treasure for the eyes. Excellent white balance rendering true and natural colors. Tac sharp focus allows us to view it in exceptional detail. From the position of its abdomen up under the leaf I am wondering if it might possibly be laying eggs.

You are right about photographic satisfaction, you were realy lucky. It is a very impressive image of this Danaid butterfly, very nice pose, great sharpness and details, nice blurring BG. Great shot.
A gorgeous butterfly captured in its full glory. Wonderfully saturated colors, exquisite details and splendid sharpness makes this a truly amazing shot.
Again first time? Congratulation for your finding.
Beautiful colourful species. Well done framing it tightly, although still visual impression doesn't look stunning to me but details, focus and sharpness are very very good.
Thanks for sharing,
