Je n'en suis pas sur mais il me semble qu'il est un Héron strie (Butorides striatus)

The closest I can come to any identification here is that it is a heron of some kind and I am sure that doesn't help much as there are so many different herons.

It's an interesting shot though with the foliage of the tree forming a triangle through the frame and the bird sitting in the top triangle that is further only filled by the blue sky. You caught the heron at a strange pose, not that it is strange that it is standing on its one leg and the other one partly tucked in under its feathers, but just the angle of its head and the body orientation looks slightly off balance. The main subject (the bird) might be a little small on the photo though, but I don't know what you zoom limitations were or what kind of distance were there between you and the bird.

I love seeing Herons posing on trees! Nice colors and details. His eye is wonderful. So was yours to have spotted him. I'm shocked - didn't think I could read an entire note written in French. Much easier for me to read it than to write it - I probably write with an American accent.

J'ai pensé une certaine sorte au héron car well..but il est jusqu'à la conjecture o ma partie. Tout que je sais au delà de quelques oiseaux et mammifères simples vient de mon long passé parents..and ma mémoire pas aussi sûre ! Very nice to catch it though Jeapaul!

So you had been on vacation to El Salvador recently, JP.
This is my first glimpse of your pictures from that trip. I notice you have posted quite a few of them earlier too.
This bird you shot there looks quite interesting. From a low point of view, you have captured its features, especially the eye, very well.
The composition with the tree the bird is sitting on is very attractive.

C'est vrai que ça ressemble à un héron vert, j'ai aussi pensé à une sorte de bihoreau. Mais je ne suis pas spécialiste sauf que ta photo est très belle, Jean-Paul, j'aime beaucoup la simplicité de la composition, très efficace. J'aime aussi beaucoup le bel arbre sur lequel l'oiseau perche. C'est bien vu et très bien photographié. Merci!

C'est une très belle composition avec ce Héron dont je ne peux pas confirmer l'espèce précise. J'aime bien le fait qu'il soit décadré comme ça. Les détails et l'exposition sont très bons aussi, bravo!

How interesting this bird that you captured. It really looks like a heron, but it is also unknown to me. It is curious how it has its right leg. I wonder why birds use to hide a leg while they are resting. Excellent details and a nice composition. I like it!

Congratulation to perfect pose and composition of heron Jean-Paul. I would cut a bit more from the left to avoid leafs on the left edge and move heron to one-third on the right.TFS

Cet oiseau sur la branche est impressionnant. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de son plumage. Les feuilles font un bon cadrage du sujet. La lumière rehausse les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

La photo n'est pas la grande photo mais c'est un bon document. J'ai cherché dans le guide d'oiseaux de l'Amérique du Sud et crois que par sa distribution il est Butorides virescens que certains considèrent race de B. striatus
