Hello Peter,
What a lovely hairy guy from your Alpine archives. Superb close-up.
The "+++" : subject, composition, green environment, point of view, sharpness, colors, DOF, exposure, instructive note...
The "-" : nothing...
Congratulations my friend and TFS.

Hello Peter, I seem to have missed previous postings of this species. What a cute little butterfly. No linings on the underparts, just white spots. That's great. Nice ino on this thirsty species as well. Thanks for sharing this picture.

Hello Peter,
What an amazing and colorful picture!!! The butterfly looks like he was covered by silk! You got a great pov letting us see the inner and outer view of the wings! I'm just wandering if you chose f/8.0 instead of f/4.0 you were able to have both anthennas in focus? Very well done and TFS,
Michel

Hi Peter,
A beauty! Such rich and vibrant color saturation. The detail is amazing. Great DOF at this shooting angle has him very sharp with just the far antenne falling out to the nice OOF backround. Great camera work.

Wow, Peter, this is what I wanted to see!
You've been keeping this one back, but it is worth waiting for!
You present a sharp capture of the Alpine Blue showing that wonderful mixture of blues reflected in the scales of this fresh male.
Excellent comp., POV and BG make this a wonderful post.
Well done and TFS,
Best wishes, Ivan

Ricardo
Dared point of view to capture with effectiveness this beautiful butterfly Peter.
In spite of F4 and the obtained angle, the focus is very good about the entirety of the insect with appropriate OOF on the bottom of the scene, very also framed.
The colors are intense but well controlled, without unnecessary saturation.
A very slight bottom noise exists that is possible to reduce without deteriorate the sharpness of the butterfly.
I love Workshop with the butterfly taking refuge inside your hand.
My best regards... Ricardo

Hi Peter
Now fancy that…You shot such a lovely photo of a butterfly while taking a rest and I need to take a rest after I shot a butterfly photo. These critters here by us have never been house trained so they flit around like they had high octane propellant for breakfast. I rest my case with your workshop. Amazing…
This is such a brilliant photo, clearly with the Peter Stoeckl signature imbedded into it. You never have to make use of a watermark in any of you butterfly photos because the evidence of the craftsmanship clearly gives away the name of the photographer. Brilliant as always on all technical aspects.
Great work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Peter,
Again, a truly wonderful capture!
I like the most the artistic POV used, it's a so good composition, with all that crossing lines at the background, and the beauty blues as the focal point.
Details on the insect are so clear and sharp, a perfect focus and exposure on the butterfly.
It's amazing the texture and colors seen on the wings, both of them, wich also gives us a view about how it looks like from upper and down.
The compact DSC-H5 really deserves!
Congratulations and my best regards,
JM

Hi, dear Peter.
At last you have opened a secret of success of your butterfly photos. You either have tamed them, or know their language and come to an agreement with them.
Your fashion woman is simply perfect. I do not cease to admire with costume of this beauty and how well your reflected and presented it. Composition is really outstanding. Combinatopn of green BG and blur tones of the butterfly is wonderful. Lighting and POV are very informative. DOF is selected precisely. BRAVO, my friend. Great esthetic work of art. TFS and best wishes.
Yours Alexei.

Hi Peter!
This is another example of very good macro! :)
I like to POV and colours of this picture; butterfly seems realy nice.
Also the timing is very good -it seems like a moment before the butterfly fly away.
Also the note is very imformative.

Radomir

Hi Peter,
I like everything in this photo. Details, sharpness and colours over the butterfly are excellent. POV lets see both sides of the wings. The grass blade crossing the image gives a dynamic sensation and this back approach acceleates heart beating as butterfly is going to start flying suddenly!

Hi Peter
Wow... an electric blue butterfly. Simply brilliant! TFS.
Hi Peter
Another terrific macro work from you!
This is one beautiful fur-ball! :))
What i actually mean is that the quality of the shot is so great that all the hairs on his wings and body are so well visible that they simlpy stand out (in the good sence of the expression).
I also love the strong colors and the good contrast, the nice POVs (the WS one is quite funny) and the very good DOF.
A wonderful post, my friend!
Cheers and TFS
horia
PS: i'll take this opportunity to reply on you critique to my butterfly photo and tell you that those darker areas on the wings on the butterfly are just shadows from the English Red, which was all-around :)

Hallo Peter,
eine wunderschoene Aufnahme. Die Bildgestaltung ist super, es sieht so aus als sei der Falter gerade in das bild geflattert. Die Schaerfe is super und die Farben einwandfrei. Sieht richtig 3D aus.
Super.

Thank you, Peter. This is definitely my favourite of the two shots showing the upperside. They really are "electric" blue aren't they? This is a very attractive image, showing both wing surfaces, with a very nice diagonal element and complimentary background. The PP work is spot-on too ;)
Best wishes as always, Nigel.
