[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Although it is not one of the larger orchids, this striking mountain plant has a singular beauty. In the Alps, it vies with the edelweiss for attention, and has been given countless names. The deep purple to black-red, almost spherical inflorescence shows up clearly against the green vegetation of open fields. The strongly-colored flowers which are used, among other things, to color brandy, have a pronounce vanilla scent.
It still grows in large quantities on the rich alpine fields, far from any roads, sometimes to height of over 2000m. It does well in dry calcareous meadows and fields.

From then, legislation changed and the species is listed on IUCN Red Lists and no longer collected.

Nice to see that you are back on TN. Lovely flower this Nigritella nigra, which is a flower we have too in our alpine regions. Well presented with this vertical composition and the fine colour-contrast. Sharpness is always difficult to have perfect with this kind of multiple blossom.

O specie interesanta pe care nu am intalnit-o s-au nu am observat-o inca la ses. S-ar putea sa se gaseasca si in Romania dar in zonele inalte.....
