I uploaded a photo of a Marabou stork, photographed in the 'Olmense zoo'. A monopod was used.
Thanks for yesterday's critiques, comments,...
Much appreciated.

The Marabou Stork, Leptoptilos crumeniferus, is a large wading bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. It breeds in Africa south of the Sahara, occurring in both wet and arid habitats, often near human habitation, especially waste tips.

It is a huge bird. Large specimens are thought to reach a height of 150 cm (60 in), a weight of over 9 kg (20 lbs) and have a wingspan of at least 3.2 m (10.5 ft). In the last regard, it shares the distinction of having the largest wingspan of any landbird with the Andean Condor. Unlike most storks, the three Leptoptilos species fly with the neck retracted like a heron.

The Marabou is unmistakable due to its size, bare head and neck, black back, and white underparts. It has a huge bill, a pink gular sack at its throat, a neck ruff, and black legs and wings. The sexes are alike, but the young bird is browner and has a smaller bill. Full maturity is not reached for up to four years.

Hello Annick,
This surely must be the ugliest bird on earth!! It could really do with a bit of face cream, some lipstick and a hairdo! Nevertheless your portrait of it is excellent showing all blemishes very sharply! Well done!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hello Annick,
Most people find this the most ugliest bird on earth, but also I've heard somebody who said it's the most beautiful bird. Anyhow, you made a wonderful beautiful photo with fantastic colours, sharpness and composition.

bonjour annick
oh qu'il est vilain!non juste l'oiseau!le portrait lui est techniquement parfait.bien vu.

Hi Annick,

This sure is an ugly bird, :-) I have always thought so, but it is a very good picture. Fantastic detail on the bird, and very nicely isolated from its background because of the blurring. Well done.

Hi Annick,
Great portrait
Amazing details and colors

Bonsoir Annick
Quel beau portrait de marabout.
Superbe piqué, bonne composition et un arrière plan bien flou, qui met en évidence l'animal.
Beau travail

Hello Annick,
Your Marabou Stork looks like a wise man. I love these birds, they are so special. Excellent framing. Amazing how it looks towards you. Super picture

That is one ugly bird! But huge! When I saw it for the first time life and walking around, I couldn't believe the size! Great colors and detail (as usual)! A great portrait! Cheers, Klaus

Well, as they say, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I'm sure s/he is just wonderful to its mate and off spring! It is an unusual bird up close. Camera work is wonderful.

Hello Annick
Awe, this Marabou looks so lonely and sad. Interesting notes. Excellent POV and DOF. The details are so sharp like he's right in front of me. Colours, composition and lighting are all great. Well done.
