Busy to arrange everything for my migration to Africa.
Some birds still do. So in the mean time I'll do some archive digging...
In October there will be no posting here.
This one was prepared for uploading a time ago; always hesitated 'cause I had a DOF issue; sharpness is focused on head and less on the wings.
Did like the light coming through though...
Here it is anyway:-)
Thanks for looking...

The Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber) is a species of ibis that occurs in tropical South America and Trinidad and Tobago. It is the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago and is featured on their coat of arms along with the Rufous-vented Chachalaca.

Adults are 56-61 cm long and weigh 650g. They are completely scarlet, except for black wing-tips. They nest in trees, laying two to four eggs. Their diet includes crustaceans and similar small marine animals.

This species is very closely related to the American White Ibis and is sometimes considered conspecific with it.

While the species may have occurred as a natural vagrant in southern Florida in the late 1800s, all recent reports of the species in North America have been of introduced or escaped birds. Eggs from Trinidad were placed in White Ibis nests in Hialeah Park in 1962, and the resulting population hybridised with the native ibis, producing "pink ibis" that are still occasionally seen.

Photographed in captivity; Olmense zoo.

an excellent capture.
+++ Vivid colours, great detail, a striking pose from the bird and an affective close crop.
--- Nothing as usual :)
Well done,

Hi Annick
Une bonne photo, le rouge vif de l'oiseau ressort bien dans cet envirronnement vert, drole de pose de l'oiseau sur sa souche

Félicitation pour la lumière et la nnetteté....JP

Hello Annick,

Amazing colours and a good depth of field gives a great background. Although some don't go in for a central composition, I think it works well here.

Kind regards,

Fantastic shot. Moment and composition is great. I like great colors. The land of grey and pink :-) Great OOF buckground and good sharpness. Maybe the frame is a little bit too big but it is a very individual thing
Best wishes

I'm glad you decided to post anyway! It's a beuty, with the focus where it has to be - and for the dof? The overall impression is what counts - and that is great! Cheers, Klaus

Belle pose et bonne netteté.
Le fond flou fait bien ressortir l'ibis.
Belle photo comme d'habitude.

Hello Annick,
Glad that you decided to post it in TN. This is the first time i am seeing this species of Ibis.It 's very colourful. And the light coming through the wings gives it almost a transparent look. Good pose of the bird.(was it acting according to your instructions?:) I liked the POv, sharpness, light, colours and the background. Enjoy your stay in Africa and delight us with beautiful images from there.

Me again ;)

Now for something newer...
This is some impressive pose you got here! It's like the beautiful scarlet ibis is showing off :)
Brilliant colors and also a gorgeous contrast between the bird and the darker BG.
The sharpness on the head is perfect...but it gets a bit softer towards the tips of its wings. However, you can't have them all: perfect pose from the subject and perfect preset camera :)
Anyway, i'm just nit picking here...
All-in-all: you've had some impressive and magnificent postings this summer and i'm very much loking forward for some equaly outstanding shots from you from your South Africa trip.

encore moi
alors celle ci je ne l'avais pas vu, mais je tiens a te dire que je la trouve parfaite, couleurs, détails, et tout
en quelque sorte excellent focus
bon weekend

awesome pose, and such a wonderful orange, excellent

If the rest leaves me space I can say something from this wonderful picture among so many wonderful pictures I have seen in your pages. Why this? because it is a bird, for its orange colour, for the moment, envy and why not? :). A wonderful bokeh in the background. My comment is dispensable, and points are more than deserved. A testimony to the appreciation of beauty 'treasure your photos.

I like this posture and colours.Excellent.Congratulation.
