This male lion is captured in the Belgian savannah:-))

Actually this wonderful mammal has been photographed in captivity; this is 'political correctness' in terms of terms of service;-)
I regret I don't have a lot of information about him.
On the other hand I photographed him a lot of times. I know him a bit even without the meta and I imagine it's a bit vice versa as well:-).

Monopod and IS.
ISO 400
Underexpose 1/3 stop to get detail in these whites.

It's a crop

There are images of African lions taken in the wild in my Kruger travelogue as well as in depth notes.

Thanks for looking

Ha Annick,

Fantastisch portret
perfect belicht
schiterend van kleur
hij kijkt een beetje somber

Hoi Annick,

Long live the King!
These zoo lions have it easy - but still they do look sad. No doubt he's dreaming of the African savannah.
Lovely portrait Annick, with him looking right at you.

Hi Annick

Just a quick one now...trying to catch up after my trip last week :)
No matter where this is taken, this is a very beautiful and dramatic portrait! I love the tight composition here and the expression on its face.
You did good to compensate to a lower exposure...those whites are vert difficult sometimes :)
Wonderful work, my friend!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Annick.
Wow! A marvellous observant!
Great sharpness, interesting framing.
Very well done!
Josť Roberto

The eyes look austere or forbidding in aspect, but also very sad Annick.
Captivity will do that..
And we all know what it's like to be held captive in one form or another.
Well done,

A great shot, just lovely. The face filling the frame, means that all you can focus on is that majestic face. the colours are lovely and the sarpness is perfect. a lovely shot. but how did you get up so close.

Hi Annick,

This lion is probably also wanting to be in the Kruger like us. Very sharp and lovely expression that you captured.

Hallo Annick,
Het lijkt wel of deze leeuw beseft dat hij in gevangenschap leeft. Een trieste uitdrukking heeft hij.
Belichting, kleuren en scherpte zijn perfect. Fantastische uitsnede.

Hello Annick,
Nice portrait with right tight framing, this poor prisoner has a sad expression well expressed by your photo
Well done,
Kind regards

Great closeup of the king of the beasts. The eye contact, expression on the face, all have a royal nature.

Wooww! Very impressive portrait, Annick!
I wondered how you had gotten so close, then realised it was taken in a zoo :-)
Exceptional detail and very good clarity.
Nice lighting and colours.
Great DOF.
