Hi Pat. What a close up shot this one is. rich colours and fine detail. with good use of the light, well done TFS. not to sure about the frame. but that just me.

oh wow, there is a giant fly on my screen! :-) what a big hairy beast, terrific or better horrific (*g*) macro-shot

Hello Pat,
I opened your picture several times and did not really know how to give a good comment - because always I was a little confused. That is probably a good indicator showing that there is something particular with your picture. Indeed! It's the framing which confused me. Although it is very interesting, it distracted the view on the fly. In spite of the large size of the picture the inner frame implies too narrow cropping with respect to the fly and this produced 'discrepancy' in my brain.
The colours of the picture are nicely balanced and sharpness on the frontal parts of the fly brings up numerous details.

Fantastic macro! Colors are vivid and details are excellent. The eye and the hairs are amazing. Interesting framing - I had to look at it several times but decided I do like it.

mais c est absolument horrible :-)) je crois qu il n existe pas de mammifere que je puisse qualifier comme ca,mais certains insectes je ne me gene pas!par contre ta photo est superbe!quels details magnifiques!et des couleurs exceptionnelles!

houas,c'est degeux!!!manger de l'interieur!!!moi je vais commander un cerceuil etanche.
globalement c'est un bon travail,mais (oui il y a un mais)en macro il faut privilegier la profondeur de champ et f/5 c'est trop juste la preuve c'est que l'abdomen net pas dans le champ,d'autant que tu as utilisé une vitesse tres élevée (1/1600.
je pense que F/13 aurait été mieux,enfin moi j'dis ça mais je n'y etais pas!!!

Bonjour Pat,
Excellent close macro of this parasitic fly. Good sharpness and details but the framing is not to my taste: the fly is complicated and is better with a simple frame but your framing skills are very good.
