Hahaha...are you in fact 100% sure this is a mushroom? :))
A very nice find, Niek. I'm sure you had your doubts the first time you looked down and saw this one.
But leaving the comic element aside for a moment, i really like the low angled POV you shot this one from as well as the contrasting surroundings you managed to get in order to bring it out even better.

Aside all this, i'm curious of something - you were on this trip in a very fitting period for grand autumn landscapes. How is it that you didn't come back with any? Rain?

Anyway, it's a very nice fungus shot and also a very funny one...i'm a bit surprised it didn't get more attention until now.
Well even so, i like it :)

Yes, It's really looks like popcorn alright!
captured well in a soft-toned and very warm colouration!
best DOF in perfect exposure and focus with good sharpness and details!
to me is a good shot and composition for sharing

I really like the richness of the colors you captured Niek. The composition is fine with its good range of values from very dark to light. The dark frame works well to help make your subject "pop" (ha ha ha LOL!) Sometimes I impress even myself! It looks to me that the leading edge of the fungus is just a tad OOF. I would have though that f9 would have worked better. I have had little practice with this type of shot.

Your fungus looks totally delicious. Is it caramel-laced popcorn, per chance?
Your exposure is excellent, and the texture comes through beautifully.
I also like the contrast of the white subject in the midst of the dark, but rich BG colors.
A lovely composition.

this is a calming shot...it breathes stillness and quietness of the forest floor
i like the popcorn label..:)
slight bright rear item could be toned down
the bed of leaves is what would attract me in the forest...all subjects look 'at home' on this background
very warm shot

whats most striking to me in this photo is the rich, deep colours that make this whole image so great to look at as a whole. The focus is pin sharp and DOF perfect. An excellent shot, well done.

The light is good and the reproduction of colours gives an attractive result...
DOF spot on isolates the the subject well from the noisy background!

Hi Niek,
I do like the lovely rich colors and lighting you achieved here. Also how the image is like peering into the secret world of this "popcorn mushroom". How do you like that for a common name? :-) The image is well composed with a pleasing frame.
Only nit is the DOF is just a tad short in front as previously mentioned.

Hello Niek,

A very nice photo, captures the light in the forest and the texture of the mushroom's cap very nicely. A minor suggestion would be to get the sharpest focus on the front of the mushroom rather than the far side, but that's minor.

Looks to be a Lepiota of some sort. Some of the small woodland Lepiotas that look like that are deadly poisonous, so it's best photographed and left to complete it's life-cycle.

Hallo Niek,

Ik zie niet veel fotos's van paddestoelen van jou. Maar als je er een op de post doet, nou dan is het me ook wel een plaatje hoor. Je onderwerp heb je er heel goed uitgelicht. Is daardoor scherp en met de kleuren zoals die horen te zijn. De omgeving heb je in heel mooie herftstinten gehouden. Schitterend. Een 10 voor je compositie. Het lijkt wel een schilderij. Knap stukje werk voor een stukje popcorn.
