This mushroom reminded me of popcorn. The color and shape of the edges just look like it. I have no idea what kind of mushroom this is, nor did I put any effort in getting its ID. So feel free to mention it in your note.

This is one of the few photos I was able to make during our short vacation on the south of Belgium. Eventhough fall colors were great, the ground was hardly covered with funi. I still don't know if it had to do with the weather, the soil or the leaves.

I do hope you lik my popcorn fungi photo.

Hahaha...are you in fact 100% sure this is a mushroom? :))
A very nice find, Niek. I'm sure you had your doubts the first time you looked down and saw this one.
But leaving the comic element aside for a moment, i really like the low angled POV you shot this one from as well as the contrasting surroundings you managed to get in order to bring it out even better.

Aside all this, i'm curious of something - you were on this trip in a very fitting period for grand autumn landscapes. How is it that you didn't come back with any? Rain?

Anyway, it's a very nice fungus shot and also a very funny one...i'm a bit surprised it didn't get more attention until now.
Well even so, i like it :)

Bravo and TFS

Hello Niek?

Not enough candies at this season? Do you see sweets everywhere?

A funny idea for a picture that pleases to me especially for the wonderful colour tones.

Kind regards

Hi Niek, with a little butter would be great... if you bring back only this photo, well, your task is very well done because it is a beautiful photo: for the colours, for the fantastic sharpness of the mushroom settled in such a beautiful background, and it looks like popcorn. Congratulation for this great shot and thank you,

I really like the richness of the colors you captured Niek. The composition is fine with its good range of values from very dark to light. The dark frame works well to help make your subject "pop" (ha ha ha LOL!) Sometimes I impress even myself! It looks to me that the leading edge of the fungus is just a tad OOF. I would have though that f9 would have worked better. I have had little practice with this type of shot.

Hello Niek,
Long time no see. : )
Your fungus looks totally delicious. Is it caramel-laced popcorn, per chance?
Your exposure is excellent, and the texture comes through beautifully.
I also like the contrast of the white subject in the midst of the dark, but rich BG colors.
A lovely composition.
TFS. : )

Hello Niek,
That's a good title, it certainly does look good enough to eat! Great capture, very sharp and I like the low POV. It stands out very nicely against the autumn leaves. Well composed too.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hello Niek, that's a beauty ! Composition, colors and sharp details, everything is great. Well done again my friend 1 Thanks !

this is a calming shot...it breathes stillness and quietness of the forest floor
i like the popcorn label..:)
slight bright rear item could be toned down
the bed of leaves is what would attract me in the forest...all subjects look 'at home' on this background
very warm shot

Hi Niek,
whats most striking to me in this photo is the rich, deep colours that make this whole image so great to look at as a whole. The focus is pin sharp and DOF perfect. An excellent shot, well done.

Hello Niek,
Excellent details have been captured in this delicate mushroom!
The light is good and the reproduction of colours gives an attractive result...
DOF spot on isolates the the subject well from the noisy background!

Fabulous capture of this intriguing mushroom
Great colours and details

Hi Niek,
I do like the lovely rich colors and lighting you achieved here. Also how the image is like peering into the secret world of this "popcorn mushroom". How do you like that for a common name? :-) The image is well composed with a pleasing frame.
Only nit is the DOF is just a tad short in front as previously mentioned.
Nice view of the forest floor and this mushroom, TFS

Really good macro capture Niek, love the warm tones and shallow DOF you have achieved. Very well done..

Hi Niek

I'm note sure I would like to eat it even if it does look like popcorn. Very precise DOF, sharp focus on the funghi and lovely woodland floor colours.

p.s. nice to hear you are coming over

Hello Niek,

A very nice photo, captures the light in the forest and the texture of the mushroom's cap very nicely. A minor suggestion would be to get the sharpest focus on the front of the mushroom rather than the far side, but that's minor.

Looks to be a Lepiota of some sort. Some of the small woodland Lepiotas that look like that are deadly poisonous, so it's best photographed and left to complete it's life-cycle.

Hallo Niek,

Schitterend. Een 10 voor je compositie. Het lijkt wel een schilderij. Knap stukje werk voor een stukje popcorn.

Groeten en tot TFS BOB

Nice shot. It is such a simple object, yet the pov, the light and shadows, and the different colours of the blurred bg, all make it an attractive picture! Thanks for sharing.
