Hello Pat,
you clearly show very sharp what one can often observe, ticks sucking a bumble bee!
It is not easy to present the parasites in a suitable way. However, you managed well.
Best wishes, Peter

Most interesting.
I posted what I think it is the same arachnid HERE, but if you read the note, you will see that what I found about Parasitellus differs from your note very much. I am sure that if "les apiculteurs" say that this are harmfull, they will be right :)
Your photo is much better than mine, I wish I had such a magnification, with this level of detail by then.
Thanks very much, nice TN stuff.
Salut Patt,

Wow! What incredibly good image quality! I don't think there's a single speck of noise here!
Shame about the poor bee with it's annoying parasites :-(
I love the super-shallow DOF and completely blurred BG.
Vibrent colours and perfect lighting.
Superb image.
Very well done,
Joe

Ciao Pat,
un'immagine davvero interessante e didattica.
Mi piace molto il riquadro in alto a sinistra, dove mostri, perfettamente a fuoco, i piccoli acari sul corpo del Bombus.
Complimenti,
Marcello

Salut Pat!
What a great shot, documentative and eductaional as well as beautiful. It's very interesting to see these Bee's doing what they do best here. Even the detail of those horrible looking parasites is excellent. I love the colours of the flowers and the clarity is exceptional - very well done my friend!

Hi Pat,
Wonderful macro shot with amazing details and lovely saturated colours. The parasites sucking it's blood are perfectly portrayed as a inset. Great documentary shot. I remember I had also posted a dragonfly which had parasites all over sometime back. Excellent lighting, POV and composition. Kudos.

Hello Pat,
Your shot really troubled me!
Is there nothing that can be done to rid the hives of these parasites! I have the greatest respect for the hard-working bees which carry on working hard despite their infection!
Your shot is very sharp and detailed! I congratulate you on your skill!
Kind regards,
Bev:-)

Hello Pat!
This is not only a great macro because of fantastic details on Bombus species, but because of the mites! It is really something species and very unique! Especially among Hymenoptera - I really think that this is the first and only onle example here on TN!
By the way, if you are interested in other insect with mites on their bodies, please feel free to see my pictures of robber fly and dragonfly :>
Thank you for showing this very interesting entomological macro!
Best greetings,
Radomir

Great interest Pat, I've not seen this before..Very well documented.
Nice idea to present it this way, excellent details in the extreme closeup of the parasites. Nice color, light, and the POV in the full frame to show those parasites also.
