[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
An rather undistinguished fly, which only shows up its magnificent gold hair on macro pictures. Pollenia rudis , AKA Cluster fly. The larva lives in the ground, where it parasitizes earth worms.
The English name comes from the fact that the species tends to congregate in large numbers to over-winter in buildings.
There are several very similar species of Pollenia.
