Hello my TN friends, I wasn't much around these days. I was a little sick (had a flu)!
I'm back now :-)

Picture taken a few minutes ago in my garden!

HOPE YOU'LL LIKE IT!

Viola odorata is a species of the genus Viola native to Europe and Asia, but has also been introduced to North America and Australasia. It is commonly known as Sweet Violet, English Violet, Common Violet, or Garden Violet. The herb is known as Banafsa, Banafsha or Banaksa in India, where it is commonly used as remedy to cure sore throat and tonsilitis.

Viola odorata is quite similar to other species of violet, but can be distinguished by the following characteristics:

* the flowers have a sweet scent,
* the flowers are normally either dark violet or white,
* the leaves and flowers are all in a basal rosette,
the style is hooked (and does not end with a rounded appendage),
* the leaf-stalks have hairs which point downwards, and
* the plant spreads with stolons (above-ground shoots).

The species can be found near the edges of forests or in clearings; it is also a common "uninvited guest" in shaded lawns or elsewhere in gardens. The flowers appear as early as February and last until the end of April.

Scientific classification
Kingdom: Plantae
Division: Magnoliophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida
Order: Malpighiales
Family: Violaceae
Genus: Viola
Species: V. odorata

Hi Ena,
Wonderful shot of these beautiful flowers with very impressive sharpness and lovely colours. The petals and shape of the flower look very interesting and I like the natural surrounding and the ambience portrayed here. Superb lighting and spot-on focus. Great low POV and very nicely composed. Kudos.

Ciao Ena,
bellisiima e delicata immagine di questa viola.
I colori sono molto naturali e la luce diffusa consente di apprezzarli al meglio.
Spero ti sia ristabilita completamente dall'influenza.
Ciao e buon fine settimana,
Marcello

Hi Ena
Very nice shot of these Viola. Good sharpness nice OOF background nice saturated colors. I am wondering how it looks like croped (square crop) without the flower on the right side. Maybe you try it - I think that it will improve the composition
Best wishes
Krzysztof

Hi Ena

Wonderful POV with superb detail and colour. Well seen and captured.

Not sure I have ever seen this plant in the USA. To me it looks like an early spring blooming plant we called a Pansy in the USA, only it is narrower.

Pansies grow in temperate zones in North America.

Hi Ena,

Good of sharpness with beautiful colours and detail.
Also the pov and dof are good.
Nice note too.

regards Gert

Hello Ena,
Amazed to see that you have already Viola in your garden. These are of my favourite flowers and you took the picture from an interesting very low point of view. So we are on the same level as the little flower, which seems to talk to us.
Thanks alot and best regards
Anne
