Start of the fight

We spent an afternoon in Croatia with my girlfriend this weekend, where we visited this lake by the Drava river. A beautiful place full of birds, damselflies, dragonflies etc. It was so good to be there photographing..

After an hour of shooting gulls and mallards, something happened that drew many of the gulls in one direction and a big fight started. I guess those two at the bottom found some food that the others wanted too. For a couple of minutes I was shooting countinously to catch the best moments of the action. I selected one to post here and one for TL (Fight!).

I had luck with lighting, at ISO400 I could close down to f/10 on my tele while keeping 1/800. The slowest I can manage is 1/320 even on monopod with this heavyweight lens but for an action like this it wouldn't have been fast enough I think. But I could keep the pace while keep more than only 1-2 birds in the dof.

I hope you like it,

Szia Andor!

Bravo.

Baráti üdv, Laci

Very dynamic capture.
Sharp, natural colors.

Hi Andor:

Thanks for commenting on my photo of the dragonfly, so motivated to visit your photo gallery and see that you have some excellent work.
This photo of the birds I like the definition of the movement of birds in the foreground blur is excellent and the other gives depth and highlight to the wider shot. Beautiful work and a nice comment,

Best regards.

A lovely, well balanced composition.I love the clarity, I dunno what you call it, you see the sharpness of the head and the beautiful blur of the wings in motion?
That is so awesome!
You rock, mate!

Hi Andor,
a great moment you caught here full of action! Sharp and a very good DOF. I know how you feel with the 500mm, my Sigma is a bit cumbersome for fast moving subjects too!Still, great job, you made the most of your opportunity, well done.

Hi Andor,

The images of these gulls are just so beautiful. Random wings patterns and well spread in the frame. Fine details and very well exposed.
