I was driving to work at a Friday when I spotted a dead bird at the roadside – actually did I pass, but I was curious and went back expecting to find some kind of hawk – In stead I found a Tawny owl still warm and in good condition – Its now in my freezer and waiting to get stuffed - I know it’s a little sad sight – but its properly the only way I ever will get a photo of this fine kind of bird.

Yes, a sad story, Jeppe. I noticed that preybirds are very vulnerable. When they stand on a fence pole, as it happens often on some highways, and they take off when a car approaches, they fly slowly, often taking a dangerous direction. It's a pity it happens with birds already endangered.

A very sad shot, but that's nature.
Picture a bit over exposed.

This is really sad and sickening at the same time, yet it happens and we have to deal with it.

Thanks for posting

It is really a sad story however it is very common too. It probabply wasn't quick enough to get away from one of these teel beasts running all over the roads.

Poor, poor little owl!
