The redwing (Turdus iliacus) is a typical bird of the northern countries. I saw it on a lawn at the Laajavouri Hostel at the boundary of Jyvaskulae. The area is famous for winter-sports. After a rainfall there were many birds on the lawn foraging for food.
The photo was made without a tripod, so the sharpness is not perfect. However, it captures the post-rain condition well and the bird was easy to identify. The redwing is much less to be seen than the very common fieldfare in this region. |
