This is the result of a cold experience.
Thought I will take advantage of the nice afternoon weather... I ended up in -10C, snowy, windy and painful fingers.

This image was made using HDR, composed of 5 exposures all are with f/5.6 varying speeds: 1/8 - 1/1.3 sec

This is one of my first attempts with HDR so feedback is most welcome!

This image was taken 2 days ago - this part of the sea is now frozen

Hello Shir

Very cold - but nice scenario you have posted here. The blue/greenish colours really bring the coldness up. Very calm to look at. IMO you could improve it by cropping out some of the water - about half - to bring the horizon line out of centre.

Apart from that well done

Ricardo

very good shot, coldness is almost tactile.

I would crop the forefront a bit, that blue tone is a bit too light compared to green/turqouse reflection on water.

Nice framing.

Hello Shir,
I can feel the cold in my bones with this picture. The exposure is perfect and the detail on the trees is impressive. I agree with the suggestion to crop the frozen water to improve the composition. The reflection is not all that clear anyway. I don't know about HDR, sorry.
Best wishes,

Hi Shir,
Very interesting the effect got with the high dynamic range.
How did you make it, in the software bundled with the camera, or just by yourself in PP?
The effect created gives a a very particular atmosphere and view of this seascape.
The difference of color on the reflections? of the water down looks a bit distracting for me.
The subtle tones of blue and greens mixes with grey in an almost duo tone image, but in fact there are more. It's like if color were hidden there.
Well done and thanks for post this technique,

magnifique paysage et ces refletsdans l'e au sont supers
bravo merci du partage

Hello Shir,
Fantastic, freezing-cold colours! I like the wintery mood of this shot. Interesting use of light and postprocessing too.
Best greetings and TFS!

Was the HDR mergiing done in the camera or with software on the computer. I know that some Nikon model do it in camera which is amazing to me. The results look pretty good to me. It also looks pretty cold. It's a nice image. TFS

Shir, this is more than splendid!!!
I really love what you managed to create here and even if i don't have HDR on my camera and only read about it, this seems to be an exceptional work!
The look of the trees and the water is outstanding!!!
I also love the colors and the details everywhere.
The fact that you blended more pictures and that on some the shutter speed was slow gave the water an interesting effect - it's like it's already frozen :)
The only this i'd like to add here is something about the composition: i understand that you've tried to capture the lovely trees and their reflection in the cold water, but since you don't have clear borders at the left or right of the picture, i think a vertical composition would have created a better image of the entire place and it would have also left a bit more room above the trees (which is a little small in this case). That's my honest opinion :)

Anyway, a fabulous work!
Bravo and TFS

Hola Shir,
Just reading your note one can feel cold but after looking this bluish, almost black and white view one really get frozen too! Cool, beautiful image!
TFS, José M.

Hi Shir,
I remember you stunning winter photos from last year, and was wondering when we would see some new ones. This is a really wonderful scenery, and I think the HRD really helped to bring out all the details perfectly. The different shutter speeds gave the water some amazing looking texture. The overal blueish color is wonderful. What software did you use for the HRD?

:) tomorrow
