[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The orb spider Argiope bruennichi normally constructs its characteristic web in low vegetation where it mainly feeds on grasshoppers ; but here it had chosen a large windowframe to span its web reaching 1 metre in diameter. I set a blue cardboard between the window and the spiderweb, the low sun projecting a nice shadow of the spider and its web on the background, where the zigzag pattern of the stabilimentum can be seen.
Thanks for looking :-)

Very creative :) This really stands out from the crowd! Love the blue and the shadow works well to show off the stabilimentum.

Well done and lucky you to get one that wasn't low down and awkward to shoot :)

Regards
Matt

Patrick,

Really nice work. You managed to use a minimal intrusion on the natural course of things to generate a very distinctive image -- much more so than if you'd simply taken a photo of the scene the way you found it. Very imaginative.

Makes nice composition, and the macro on the spider is very good.

Hi Patrick,
fascinating way of seeing that spider,
making the almost invisible visible.
Perfect details and composition.
Very creative shot.
Congratulations, and thank you!
Peter

Nice one Patrick. One spider is enough but two is too many!! Excellent shadows showing up on the blue cardboard. And the spider is nice and clear too. Well shown, thank you
Janice

Hello Patrick,
This is very interesting picture. I know this spider very well, but I've never seen a web in such place.
You had very good idea for the BG, picture has great framing and very good quality.
Very well done on this one!

Hi Patrick,
Very nice shot. Good composition and correct title. Colours are well, a bit soft in focus in the spider.
