[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the same tiger beetle, Cicindela campestris, I presented yesterday see here. As the temperature was low this last weekend of April (15°C), this normally speedy hunter could easily be approached, seeming straightway to pose for my camera.

In this frontview, you see its characteristic yellow "lips", the labrum, and its mighty jaws (mandibles).

Photo taken with the 50mm Sigma macro lens, on my D70 Nikon body. Built-in flash used, power set manually, in combination with a plastic diffuser sheet, atop of the lens. Camera was steadied against the Manfrotto removable sliding plate.

Camera settings:
size/quality : large, Jpeg fine ; Sharpness +1 ; iso [email protected] ; white balance : flash

PP done with Photoshop7, levels + burn tool, USM filter, vertical crop, resize for site.

Very nice image, Patrick, getting that little beast's face in such nice focus had to be a challenge. Very nice composition too. I am very glad that it's little fellow and doesn't have a taste for humans.
