[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
Christian, white Rhinoceros photographed in the Zoo of Lille (Ceratotherium simum). The white rhinoceroses are in fact of grey colour. In XVIIth century, the first Dutch settlers arrived in Southern Africa called this animal wijde, making allusion to the lip. The British men, who settled in the Cape from 1806, thought by accident that they said white, English word to which pronunciation is close.
