The ring-tailed lemurs are recognized by their striped tails of 14 black and white rings. The animal measures about 40 inches and weighs 3 to 4 kilograms
they live in trees and are organized in matriarchal societies of twenty individuals.

They move by jumping and can jump over 10 meters.

They are frugivorous and live about 20 years.
The ring-tailed lemurs are placed on the IUCN Red List for the destruction of their natural habitat tends to make them disappear from their last refuges.
