Smiling wood pigeon
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|I can't help to see a smile. Of course it's just the way their bill is built.|
THE COMMON WOOD PIGEON:
Le pigeon ramier.
In the colder northern and eastern parts of its Europe and western Asia range the Common Wood Pigeon is a migrant, but in southern and Western Europe it is a well distributed and often abundant resident. It is a basically grey bird, with a pinkish breast. Size at 38–43 cm. White on its neck and wing. Juvenile birds do not have the white patches on either side of the neck. It breeds in trees in woods, parks and gardens, laying two white eggs in a simple stick nest which hatch after 17 to 19 days. The young usually fly at 33 to 34 days. Most of its diet is vegetable, taken from open fields or gardens and lawns; young shoots and seedlings are favored, and it will take grain, as well as certain fruits and berries.
Cloudy bright light.

This is a nice clear shot with details well seen. The Woodpigeon seems to be very photogenic and a super model, and the smile adds to the speciality of this super image. It has neat feathers and I like the delicate and fluffy ones in the neck. The colours are magnificent. The details could not be sharper. The background is perfect. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
