Stink bug. (Hemipteres, Heteroptera). Rather large bug of colouring molten brown gray, very mimetic on the barks of trees with which it merges. Angles of the corselet rather not very angular, antennas and distinct edge alternatively of yellow and black, and two black spots on the scutellum. Length: 14 to 16 mm. Visible imago as from May until during the summer. Bug of wood, often seen on the trees.

Salut Didier,
Great in-flight capture of this stink bug. You have completely froze the action. POV, pose you captured, the color tones in the background, focus, sharpness and composition are very good. Well done and TFS
Best wishes,

Bonjour Didier,
well captured in flight. I can't remember that I ever saw a flying Heteroptera bug at TN.
The species shown is Rhaphigaster nebulosa (family: Pentatomidae).

... sorry, I noticed later that you show the species name printed on the picture (I missed it in the note)!

Best wishes, Peter

Ciao e grazie, Emanuele

Hi Didier,
you did it! That is tome the most challenging part of macro photography, tjhe photography of insect flight. You succeeded in all technical specs, ad the result is a masterpiece! Bravo, Didier.
The species might be Elasmucha grisea (Acanthosomatidae) or a related Mediterranean species. Maybe you have more shots and can check for characteristics of the species.
My best regards and.... Happy Christmas

Bonjour Didier,

Bravo.
Bonne journée.

Hi Didier,

This is a stunner - it must have been so hard to get this in focus given the very narrow depth of field you had to work in. But not only did you get it in focus, but you got it in a great position as well. Top work.

nice catch ... but ugly artificial blur artifacts.
try to make first time a mask, then use lens blur with "selection from mask" setting.
