Lagria hirta or Lagria atripes which are two very similar species.

Dutch name: Wolkever or ruigkever
French name: Lagrie hérissée?

Length: 7-10 mm

Soft-bodied and rather sluggish; head and thorax black or dark brown; elytra reddish-brown; very hairy in appearance.

Food and habits: Larvae eat decaying matter in leaf-litter and turf. Adult eat among other things nectar and pollen.

A very fine sharp macro of this small Tenebrionid beetle. Technically of very high standard, taken from an excellent POV and set in a fine composition.

Hello marie,

Your photo shows an interesting insect I heve never seen before. You have rendered very fine the texture of insect's wings. It seems it is covered with a kind of fur. Contrats with the leaf beneath is well chosen keeping the insect in viewer's attention.

I thought you were fungi photograph, but this one are really outstanding.
I don't remember of I have seen this insect in the wild.
Great shot and details, I like a little more dof this time.
The beetle sitting on a leaf so he can have more dof.

I really can not remind if I saw any Lagria species in TN gallery before Marie!
