Eurasian Common Moorhen
Gallinula chloropus
Poule d'eau
TYPICAL FIGHT
I apologize for the lower quality of this pic. Still, I was encouraged to post it because TN has no posting of those birds fighting. The scene is very typical: both males on their backs and fighting with their legs; the female quietly waiting at some distance.
The fight lasted 10 minutes. The winner chased the loser for quite a long distance to make him really feel his pain. The female was running behind to keep close to her winner.
Bird description:
This is a common breeding bird in marsh environments and well-vegetated lakes. The Common Moorhen remains plentiful and widespread. The nest is a basket built on the ground in dense vegetation. Both parents incubate and feed the young.
Pic:
ISO 250
Crop: 40%
Light adjustment using the "curve" function
Hue: +36
Thanks for looking.

Bonjour Jean Marie,
Amicalement
Anne

Hi Jean-Marie.
It is a really great action scene and nice shot. It is a pity that exposure time is long a bit however, details of the image, DOF and composition are perfect. My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Bonjour JeanMarie,
Un grand coup.
Une nouvelle macro avec une exception très bien choisi POV.
Excellent contraste des couleurs.
Je sais combien il est difficile de l'attraper. Et vous avez une très bonne image.
Amicalement,
Adrian
Hi Jean,
I think despite the fact that sharpness is missing due to camera shake rather than using low shutter speed, the picture represent scene of action and I am impressed indeed. I know , sometime when we see something interesting and intent to capture it we do not have enough time to think about camera settings.I think this is the case here.It is a unique action scene and I am congratulating you for that.In future however there is no excuse for low quality due to wrong camera settings.! Greetings from South Africa and Happy Easter!

Hi JeanMarie,
Whether its a good picture or not, it is still a stunning action image of these birds fighting. Very well done and thanks for sharing.

Bon jour JeanMarie,
A great documentary/photo reportage... and the notes very informative.
Amongst the many details I note the ring on the one bird's leg. I like a lot the vivacity in your image.
I do not not mind the "'low quality"' - in contrary - the blur emphasises the ferocity of the fight! The spray indicates that you yourself nearly participated :-))
The only little point - which I do not like so much - is the blue sheen on the black feathers...
Enjoy the rest of your week-end
Greetings from South africa
Salut Ingrid
