To change, a little blow freshness...

This spring, I was admiring towards this small courageous flower which bored snow to live and open out, nature is so brilliant and strong !
I saw this Crocus in Semnoz, at 1600m altitude, during a trek with snowshoes.

Flowering Time : Spring. Features : flower shades of purple, sometimes white or striped. Corm tunic fine fibres.

Camera : Canon Ixus 400 in mode macro-auto-spot. No flash, no tripod.
Slightly cropped and resized in 800x600 for TN.

Simply beautiful. I like the shapness and well balanced whites of the ice. Good shot.

Ningun otro titulo hubiera sido más atinado Christian.
Hermosa imagen, con bonito colorido y ese contraste entre el hielo y la flor.
Gracias por compartirla.

Aucun autre titre aurait été plus judicieux Christian.

This is absolutely stunning and is going to my favourites.

Thanks for posting this beauty!

Christian, Very refreshing change from the fungi! Down-right chilly to be exact! ;-) Not the ordinary photo, you've captivated the viewer isolating the single flower this way. The flower petals seem frozen - as if to break if touched! Very creative shot, Great job!!

What a great start to spring. This shot is lovely.I have many Crocus in my flower garden and have yet to shot any of them. After seeing this shot I will pay more attention this comming spring. Thanks

Nature will always find a way...

Great composition... no brilliant compo. Excellent detail captured, Christian. Did you use a Pol. filter?

A beautiful shot.
Excellent colours and detail.
Fabulous,very well done.

A beautiful setting and excellent detail. Hard to believe the flower is undamaged after pushing through the snow.

This is very good Christian. The flower is in perfect focus, and the snow is showing many details. You handled the white conditions really well.

i like this so much~ no only because of the color contrast ,but the orchids created the miracle,or maybe the life in such freezing weather itself is miracle??
perfect work~

Great shot! Love the colour of the Crocus, the glistening of the ice and the way the leaves are reaching up out of the ice to freedom.

Good shot Taz. The bloom is oustanding in the ice.

Fantastic composition. There is an awakening here that only a Spring Crocus can represent. The color, texture, and lighting are perfect. Well done.

Oh! Joli et courageux ce crocus!
Ici on assiste au combat entre l'hiver et le printemps.
Superbe photo!

Très belle composition, Christian. Parfaitement réalisé avec la neige fondante bien perceptible. Superbes couleurs. A un an près, c'est une photo de saison. Le printemps arrive!

Salut, Christian! Joyeuses Paques!
This picture is exquisite... and very-well titled. : )
You have managed the capture the delicacy of the flower, its vulnerability seen through its translucent petals, and the harshness of the snow, in all its crispness and frigidity. The colors of the crocus is delightful. Thank you for sharing a touching photo.

Très belle composition Christian, ici on les nomme Perce-neige, quelle belle image printanière aux couleurs vives, belle définition.

Merci du partage,

This is beautiful, Christian! I always admire first spring flowers too. There was a tradition to go and gather them, or just look at, in Ukraine.
I also wanted to mention that I like the quote in your introduction very much. Irene

Hi Christian,
I like a lot this crocus that I've found searching TN for crocus. Colors and details are wonderful and shows how strong Nature is, fighting against snow in Alps, and against hot and drought in Subbética.
TFS, José M.
PS. I linked your photo in mine to show the white strip in leaves.

beautiful, though a little out of focus, TFS Ori
