[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Sand Wasp Bembix tarsata, female, on clustered Carline Thistle (Carlina corymbosa)
Bembix wasps are solitary, although they tend to nest in close aggregations in which each female is completely independant from the others. They feed their youngs with flies. The nest is a burrow in loose dry soil, and the opening closes naturally each time the wasp comes out, leaving no trace outside. But the mother knows exactly where her brood is, and lands on the exact spot at her next visit. Apparently she also remembers the exact stage of each larva, as she matches the meal to the size of each young.

Hi Philippe
A very colourful macro of this Sand Wasp. Nicely composed and a good POV. I really like your DOV, the sharpness, and your pose.
Thanks for sharing
Best regards
