[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Near the Grand Lac de Jemaye I took a photo of this dragonfly. It is a Ruddy Darter. I was very lucky as this beauty kept flying back to the same stick after it flew off with every click of the shutter.

Framed, resized for TN followed by a sharpen.

The Ruddy Darter (Sympetrum sanguineum) is a European species of dragonfly of the family Libellulidae, that is very popular in France. The Ruddy Darter has a wingspan of up to 6 cm. The head, thorax and abdomen of the male are vivid red (very attractive), while the female is slightly smaller, and is a golden-yellow colour with black markings. The all-black legs of the Ruddy Darter distinguish it from the otherwise very similar Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum) and Vagrant Darter (Sympetrum vulgatum), both of which show yellow stripes on their legs. It can be found between the months of July and November, whilst mating takes place on the wing with the coupled pair performing a dipping flight over the water. I tried to take a mating pair but they were quite camera shy. ;)

A really different POV but I like it. It feels like you are following the dragonfly. Great colours, details, DOF and light. Lovely

Hello Tim.
A very nice capture of this ruddy. He stands in a nice obelisk statue, they do this to avoid overheating. sharpness is good. A little pitty that the wing is over the head but overall a very good job. Thanks.

Hi Tim.
Very nice close-up shot. POV of the picture is interesting and opens great perspective. The pose of the dragonfly is amazing also its details, sharpness and colours. I like the BG and its blurriness. Well done and TFS.

Superb quality and composition! Leaving that space at the left clearly suggest it is going to 'take off' right away!
Good job!

Buen trabajo.
TFS y saludos... Ricardo
