This picture reminds me the story of the hedgehog and the bunny! I loved the story (there's also a game), where the slow hedgehog won the distance race against the bunny, because of his intelligence.

A hedgehog is any of the small spiny mammals of the subfamily Erinaceinae and the order Erinaceomorpha. There are 16 species of hedgehog in five genera, found through parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, and New Zealand. There are no hedgehogs native to Australia, and no living species native to North America; those in New Zealand are introduced. Hedgehogs have changed little over the last 15 million years. Like many of the first mammals they have adapted to a nocturnal, insectivorous way of life. The name 'hedgehog' came into use around the year 1450, derived from the middle English word 'heyghoge'. Other folk names include 'urchin', 'hedgepig' and 'furze-pig'

Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Erinaceomorpha
Family: Erinaceidae
Subfamily: Erinaceinae

Hi Georg,
Very good picture of this hedgehog!
You catched it with very good and clear details on the spines.
Well done on the exposition to handle the harsh light.
I like a lot the composition made and the presentation.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Hello Oki, I love edgehog!
Nice shot really sharp and well presented.

Hello Oki,
A very fine close-up shot of this hedgehog.
You have captured it at a moment when it seemed to be keen on slipping away. It has that expression in the eye.
Very good natural colours and sharp details.

Hi Georg ,
nice image with great composed.
nice colours and sharpness.
well captured

Hallo Georg,
erfrischend lebendiges Bild dieses aus dem Winterschlaf erwachten Igels. Kann mich nicht erinnern, ihn im hellen Tageslicht so flott unterwegs gesehen zu haben.
Mit Dank und besten Grüßen,

Your story sounds similar to the Aesop fable of the tortoise and the hare. I like little hedgehogs though we do not have them here in America. They are cute. I like your photo showing him in his environment. Exposure and focus look good.
