DISTRIBUTION AND STATUS
Endemic to Madagascar, introduced to Réunion in 18th century. Distributed throughout Madagascar, except for extreme s. Formerly common, especially on High Plateau, but has declined considerably to become uncommon in most of range, its numbers reduced by local hunting and trapping.

Hello Peter,
Though the brightness of the white details suggests a little too much sharpening, this is a fine capture of this endemic species. The POV is perfect and the composition and natural colours add to make this a fine portrait of the Madagascar Partridge.
Thanks and my best wishes to you for Christmas and a healthy, happy 2011, when you start your retirement (a very good time if one can keep healthy!),
Ivan

Hallo Peter,

Dacht dat ik deze kwartel kende maar als dit een Madagascar is niet.
Sommigen lijken wel erg op elkaar.
Mooi gefotgrafeerd met een laag standpunt.
Prachtige natuurlijke kleuren.
Prettige feestdagen!
