Diachriysia chrysitis (Noctuidae)
the german name is "Messingeule"

The Noctuidae are a family of robustly-built moths with more than 25,000 known species [possibly 100,000 in the family]. Most have drab forewings, although some have brightly coloured hindwings. There are usually few differences between the sexes. The overwhelming majority of noctuids fly at night and are almost invariably strongly attracted to light. Many are also attracted to sugar and nectar-rich flowers.

Several species have larvae (caterpillars) that live in the soil and are agricultural or horticultural pests. These are the "cutworms" that eat the bases of young brassicas and lettuces. They form hard, shiny pupae. Most noctuid larvae feed at night, resting in the soil or in a crevice in its food plant during the day.

An amazing shot of that moth, Martina. The shape of it is very different. Interesting colors and patterns. It looks a bit grainy. Is it the shot or the insect itself? I know that moth scales sometimes show up as fuzziness. I like the way it is perching on that leaf. It looks like it takes a lot of work just to hold on. Well done and TFS. : )

Hi Martina, this moth is awesome. Your composition and background are excellent. All the photo needs is some sharpening and a bit of color correction to be it's best. I did a WS on it. I hope you like it. You sure are good at finding and photographing interesting creatures and this moth is a great find. The design and colors on it are amazing. TFS!

Hallo Martina,

Such a GREAT capture Martina!!
Never saw it.
The BG gives to the moth even more beauty!
Wonderfuil colors!
Perfect details!
5* photo!

As you say it is an intrestly coloured moth I like the mutted colours and the green eye.
Now this idea might sound silly try flipping the image over so it faces the other way, it can make an image easier to veiw reading it from left to right as you would read a european book, have a look and see.

Martina, Kris's workshop improved sharpnes in this picture.

Apart from that, the picture is very nice.

I do enjoy composition and pov. Excellent contrast between the main subject and the bg.
