Epipogium aphyllum

One of the nicest little orchids I've shot this year. Found in dark forest (check shutter speed :( ) this orchid has no leaves and so is not dependant on catching any sunlight, this whole plant is about 10 cm or 4 inches high. Another interesting detail about this orchid is that compared to other orchids the flowers are up side down, the lip is sticking up instead of hanging down

Hallo Jeroen,
Dit lijkt me een erg teer plantje en lastig te fotograferen. Ik denk nog niet eerder op TN te zien geweest. Heel bijzonder.
Groet,
Peter

Hello Jeroen

So glad you posted this beauty. Wonderful sharpness and colours against a super background.
Were there many in flower this year?
It was found again in September 2009 here in the UK but such a secret location as it is so rare and had not flowered for over 20 years.
Thanks for sharing

Anita

Hi Jeroen,
beautiful compo and very instructive note also; I didn┤t know that orchids may have no leaves.
Although there is a little grass, it would be nicer to see more of that blur grass at the bottom.
