[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A natrix natrix. It is not venomous (the only venomous snake in Greece is the viper) and is called "nerophido" in Greek (i.e. water-snake), because it usually lives in streams or basins. This particular snake is about 1 m. long. I think that the transparent white line is its tongue, moving in a great speed!

Hi Thiv very nice shot and yes since the tongue moves very fast it is very nicely taken. TFS Ganesh

Hi Theo,
This is a great portrait of the grass snake ... am I right ? It looks a slightly different colour and pattern to those I've seen in England.
Nice exposure, colour and detail here.
The fly is an interesting bonus.
I posted a shot of a NZ native gecko with a fly also on the head.
Great shot.
Cheers, Steve

Great closeup. Good clear image. I think we can see the snake's blurred tongue in both up and down positions. What caused the jagged white line? It almost seems electric. Maybe it's a reflection of the sun. Interesting. Reid

Nice clear photo of this snake. I personally am not a big snake fan. They are hard to photograph as they are usually quite shy and move quickly away. Nice capture with the fly and the moving tongue!

Hi Theologos,
An excellent closeup shot. Very good capture with great details and I like the movement blur in the tongue. Thanks a lot for sharing. Sorry :D Later.

Great capture with the fly...Fine color and excellent detail...I am always happy to see anyone educate people of non-venomous snakes in their area...Snakes are a very beneficial reptile...TFS
