Pyrus amygdaliformis Vilm.
Family : Rosaceae
Syn. : Pyrus parviflora Desf.

Deciduous shrub or small tree to 6m, often densely brahcned and sometimes spiny. Branches grey, hairy when young. Leaves green and shiny at maturity, narrow-lanceolate to elliptical, occasionally 3-lobed. Flowers white, borne in dense clusters.
Fruits globose, up to 3cm in diameter, yellow-brown when ripe, edible, raw or cooked.
Dry rocky, oftern open habitants, mountainsides until 1 700m. Flowering in March-April.
Distribution : Southern France, Southern Italy, Greece (except Crete), Albania, Fyrom, Bulgaria.

Hi Catherine,
Aside from the note, I would have considered your photo a bit dry and not very creative (well, as creative as one can be on such a website…) but the red flowers and the angle of the slope work very well and I believe they saved the composition.
I like the nice, realistic colors and…the Spring air:)

I also miss spring, whith warm weather, sun, flowers, insects! But untill then, we can only enjoy beautiful images, like this one. I like the ground coverd by many bright flowers and the trees standing vertical.

A pleasing treescape with perfect depth and colour definition Catherine, the clean, white flowers of your choice tree are in good balance with the darkish leaves of the olive tree nearby, a fine combination indeed!
