I liked so much to see the sunlight playing in the flowers of these beautiful Orchids that I spent a while with them. You can see also the whole plant in the WS.

Anacamptis papilionacea (L.) R.M.Bateman, Pridgeon & M.W.Chase, 1997
Syn.: Orchis papilionacea L., Orchis caspia Trautv.
Family: Orchidaceae
Common names: Butterfly orchid, Pink Butterfly Orchid (EN), Orchis papillon (FR), Schmetterlings-knabenkraut (GE), Orchide del farfalle, Cipressini (IT), Kelebek Orkidesi (TU) סחלב פרפרני (HE)

According Delforge P., it can be the var. heroica (E.D.Clarke) P.Delforge, shorter, densely flowered, large flowers with a dark red helmet.

The Pink butterfly orchid is a bold and relatively large-flowered orchid, of 15-40cm height, often growered in large scattered colonies.
Flowers white or pale violet pink, the lip purplish-violet with darker pink or red dots or streaks, occasionally almost white with pale markings, borne in lax oblong spikes; sepals and petals forming a small pointed helmet, the lateral sepals often with greenish parallel veins; lip 10-16mm long, kidney-shaped to heart-shaped or almost rounded, unlobed or obscurely 3-lobed, with a finely toothed margin; spur slightly downcurved, 8-12mm long, conical, shorter than the ovary.
Habitat: dry grassy and stony habitats, scrub, maquis, garrigue, lowland and in the lower mountains. Flowering: February-May.
Distribution: Mediterranean to Iran.

Hi Catherine. I would have spent a lot of time taking many picture myself of this beautifil flower. You used the spring light to its best to give such bright colours. Also using the tripod has given such sharp focusing and fine detail. TFS.

Hi Catherind,
really an mazing pattern shown here by you. The composition is such a superb, you show the lines, the shines and the stunning pattern of a splendid close up.
The good light is well exploited and you managed the blurry background very well- smooth and soft.
Excellent view for me.

Regards,
Foozi

Hello Catherine,
I see you have been to Lesvos last spring.
We are thinking of spending a week there in May this year and hope it will come off.
This is an excellent close-up of the Pink Butterfly Orchid from the forest round Agiasos. (we hope to be near Molivos)
The POV shows the flower with fine sharpness and colours.
Thanks and kind regards,
Ivan

Hello Catherine,

This is a fantastic macro with fine colors, details & composition. Well taken & presented. TFS & best wishes.

Bonjour Catherine,
Très belle macro ; le WS aurait pu faire, à lui seul, l'objet d'une autre publication.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
